The NATO-approved Anti-Static Helicopter Grounding Pole is used to safely discharge static electricity during sling load and external cargo operations. Built to NATO specifications and in line with CAP 426 guidance, this earthing probe helps protect ground personnel from static shock before touching the helicopter or suspended load. Supplied with a 4kg grounding chain and storage bag, the pole provides a clear path to earth for static build-up during flight. Used as a static discharge wand, it helps prevent sparks that could damage equipment or injure personnel.

NATO Stock No. 5120-99-728-7485: Ensures compliance with NATO standards.

Helicopter Grounding Pole c/w Storage Bag and 4 Kilogram Chain – NATO Earthing Probe for Sling Load Operations – Anti-Static Static Discharge Pole for Helicopters

This helicopter earthing probe is designed to support NATO sling load operations by safely grounding static electricity before personnel make contact with the aircraft or underslung load. Compliant with CAP 426 and built to NATO standards, the anti-static grounding pole includes a 4kg grounding chain to ensure effective static discharge to earth.

Used during helicopter external load operations, the static discharge pole reduces the risk of electric shock and prevents sparking caused by static build-up during flight. Supplied with a protective storage bag for transport and rapid deployment in the field, it’s an essential tool for military, emergency response, and aviation ground crews handling helicopter sling load equipment.

Why Would I Need a Helicopter Earthing Pole?

The NATO-Spec Helicopter Earthing Pole with 4kg steel grounding chain is designed to safely discharge static electricity from the helicopter airframe, cargo net, or suspended load before ground crew make contact. It’s especially important during operations where the helicopter is unable to land due to the size or nature of the load.

The 4kg grounding chain provides a secure, reliable earth connection, ensuring the charge is safely diverted away from personnel. Used as a static discharge wand, the pole plays a critical role in high-risk sling load operations, helping to protect both aircrew and ground teams during load delivery or recovery.

Key Features & Equipment Benefits:

  • Steel Hook/Probe (150mm): Provides a reliable and consistent point for static discharge on helicopter undercarriages or cargo hooks.
  • Non-Conductive Rubber Shaft: Prevents unintended electrical conduction and enhances operator safety.
  • Copper Earthing Wire (5–6m): Durable, sheathed wire offering a clear path to earth. Standard length: 5m; extended 6m available when possible.
  • Wooden Stave (1000mm - 1250mm): Compact and robust handle. Supplied in 1m - 1.25m length, in line with CAP 426 of at least 85cm (0.85m) in length
  • 4kg Steel Grounding Chain: Heavy-duty chain provides a reliable earth connection point during static discharge operations.
  • Foam Grip Handle (300mm): Ensures secure, comfortable grip during use, especially in high-pressure environments.
  • Secure Wire Fixing: Earthing wire is tightly fixed to prevent strain or failure t the wire–probe connection.
  • Storage Bag Included: Protective, portable bag for easy transport and ready deployment in field conditions.
