Credit Terms Available to Government Organisations, NHS, Schools & Blue Light Services

Established in 1994 by Ian Brindle, the company began in Broadstone as the UK sales and service control operation for a German inflatable liferaft manufacturer. Over the first five years the business diversified into the manufacture of safety items as well as the sales of general safety equipment and quickly evolved into a trusted supplier and manufacturer of specialist Safety Equipment to the international marine industry on a global scale.

Operating from the UK, our customer reach now serves diverse sectors, including Ports & Harbours, commercial enterprises, local government, military, civil defence, emergency/rescue services, as well as private individuals. Proven customer service and timely delivery fuelled our growth, allowing us to collaborate with renowned organisations including the MOD, RNLI, Home Office, Australian Navy, UK Police Forces, and many more.

In 2021 it was clear the existing premises could no longer support the business’s expanding product line and the decision was taken to move I C Brindle & Co. Ltd to larger premises where it would be better able to support the growth in sales to existing and new customers. The following year Ian retired from the business after a 50-year career and handed the reins over to the new Directors, Matt & Lianne Knowles.

Matt & Lianne are both committed to ensuring that the standards previously set continue under their leadership as I.C. Brindle & Co continues to chart a trajectory of growth, expanding its reach to serve a broader global audience. The company's unwavering dedication to maritime and land-safety remains at the forefront, fostering a culture that prioritises the well-being of individuals across the world. Through innovation, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to quality, we are proud to contribute to a safer and more secure environment for everyone we serve.

The company’s portfolio includes the best brands from around the globe with the company holding exclusive worldwide distributorship of the SB Rescue Sling MOB Recovery system, working closely with our friends and colleagues at SULA Bedriftsteneste in Norway, as well as being dealers of the industry’s top products such as Ruth Lee Manikins, Jason’s Cradles, Fibrelight Ladders and Nets, Jo Bird Equipment ChestsMullion Lifejacket and Flotation Suits and T-iss Tapes.

We also boast the status of being one of the world’s leading publishers of SOLAS LSA, SOLAS Fire and Coded Vessel Training Manuals for more than 20 years, supplying fleets, chart & publication companies and bookshops worldwide. We are continuing the manufacture of our high quality Thermal Protective Aids (TPA’s), MOB Strops, Forensic Recovery Bags, Throwing Line Bags and Liferaft Securing Straps, enabling us to provide niche products to suit every need.

Continuing from Ian’s background in Inflatable equipment, I.C. Brindle & Co. have developed their own range of inflatable sealed beam shelters which have been supplied to organisations including the Royal Air Force, Ministry of Defence, US Air Force, Royal Navy, Police Scotland, UK and international Fire and Rescue Teams as well as Mountain Rescue and other Search & Rescue Teams. We are proud that a number of these now consider us their preferred supplier and we will continue to strive to maintain that trust to them and all our customers now and in the future.

Pro forma payments are also accepted, allowing payment in advance via bank transfer, card, or PayPal, with orders processed promptly once payment is received.

Can I purchase products directly online, or do I need to request a quote?

Most of our specialist safety equipment can be purchased directly through our website. Prices are clearly displayed, and you can place your order quickly and securely online, with delivery options available to both UK and international addresses.

Are you a service station? Do you offer servicing for lifesaving equipment?

Yes. We provide servicing for a range of lifesaving equipment including lifejackets (such as Mullion, Besto, and EVAL), man overboard (MOB) recovery equipment, Jason’s Cradle and Markus Lifenet. Please contact us to book servicing or request a quotation.

How often should I service my lifejacket?

SOLAS-approved lifejackets must be serviced annually by an approved service station. We strongly recommend the same annual servicing schedule for leisure users to ensure ongoing safety and compliance. In addition, we advise all lifejacket owners to carry out regular visual checks for signs of wear, damage, or deterioration between services.

How often should I service my Man Overboard recovery equipment?

MOB recovery equipment, such as Jason’s Cradle and MarkusNet, should be visually checked before and after each use, and all events recorded in the vessel’s diary. Jason’s Cradle should be serviced every three years, and MarkusNet every five years, at an Authorised Servicing Centre such as I.C. Brindle. Regular inspections and servicing ensure your equipment remains compliant and ready for use.

Do you sell SOLAS-approved equipment?

Yes. We supply a broad range of SOLAS-approved equipment, including lifebuoys, training manuals, thermal protective aids, recovery systems, and more. Our team can help identify the correct SOLAS-compliant products for your vessel or organisation, keeping in-line with fast-moving and frequently updated maritime regulations.

Do you offer vessel-specific training manuals?

Yes. In addition to our standard SOLAS LSA, SOLAS Fire, and Coded Vessel Training Manuals, we offer fully custom vessel-specific manuals. Standard manuals include all required generic information plus an inventory section for operators to complete. For bespoke manuals, we can prepare them for you using information provided via questionnaire or through a full vessel survey. Manuals can include your corporate branding, custom covers, and company-specific instructions.

Can you produce company-specific training manuals?

Yes. We can prepare company-specific versions of our standard manuals featuring your logo, company instructions, standing orders, and custom covers. These are ideal for organisations operating multiple vessel types or delivering centralised training, while still allowing each vessel to complete its own inventory details.
