Mass Casualty Decontamination Shelter
Product Description:
The Mass Casualty Decontamination Unit is your rapid-response solution for large-scale emergency decontamination and collection protection (COLPRO).
Manufactured for swift, adaptable deployment, each 5x3m shelter can connect with others to form a 5x9m mass decontamination setup, ideal for hazmat teams and emergency responders managing high-exposure, mass-casualty incidents. Designed for use by Special Operations Response Teams (SORT), specifically trained to respond to Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) threats, hazardous materials, and Marauding Terrorist Attacks (MTA).
The combined Mass Decontamination Units feature a modular design with connectable sections, an internal decontamination chamber, and integrated shower system—supporting an efficient 3-stage decontamination process designed for both ambulatory and non-ambulatory casualties:
Stage 1: Disrobe Area – Serving as the reception and undressing zone, this area can be configured into separate triage and undressing sections. Contaminated casualties remove all clothing, jewellery, and personal items for secure disposal, assisted by responders in PRPS suits. A longitudinal separator curtain ensures privacy. Non-ambulant casualties are carried in on stretchers or longboards.
Stage 2: Decontamination Area – Equipped with integrated shower units, casualties undergo a Rinse, Wash, Rinse process. Ambulatory individuals move through the system independently, while a foldable patient conveyor supports non-ambulant casualties. Four protected responders conduct the decontamination process. Runoff water is collected in a non-permeable bund and pumped to external waste tanks.
Stage 3: Re-robe/Drying Area – In the final zone, casualties dry off using paper towels, with warm air pumped in through service ports for temperature control. Ambulatory casualties receive paper suits, while non-ambulant individuals are actively dried with paper towels and blankets to maintain dignity. Once ready, all casualties proceed to an assessment or treatment area.
Inflating in minutes with multiple pump options (12v, 110v, and 230v), the mass decontamination tents remain stable without continuous support, thanks to durable welded black plato PVC beams. This ensures long-lasting durability while remaining lightweight for easy transport.
Each decontamination tent comes with a comprehensive repair kit, heavy-duty pegs, vehicle flaps, and various inflation options. Optional extras, such as heating, lighting, and personalised branding, enhance functionality.
Pre-packed and ready for rapid deployment, our mass decontamination tents are your turnkey solution for fast response to contamination threats and humanitarian crises.

What is a Decontamination Shelter?
A Decontamination Shelter, sometimes referred to as a ‘Decon Tent’, is a portable inflatable structure designed to provide a controlled environment for the decontamination of individuals exposed to hazardous substances, contaminants, or potentially infectious materials. Commonly used by emergency services, hospitals, military organisations, industrial facilities, and disaster response teams, these shelters support rapid deployment decontamination operations in both planned and emergency scenarios.
What Sizes of Decontamination Units are Available?
Our inflatable decontamination shelters and portable decon shower units are available in a wide range of sizes and configurations to suit different operational requirements, from compact hospital response units to large-scale NHS and MOD mass decontamination systems. Examples include:
- Mass Decontamination Shelter: 9m x 5.02m x 2.95m (W,L,H)
- Dual Lane Shelter: 4m x 5.02m x 2.95m (W,L,H)
- Resilience Shelter: 2.5m x 3m x 2.95m (W,L,H)
- HART Shelter: 2.3m x 3m x 2.8m (W,L,H)
Our standard layouts can include:

During recent deployment testing, a team of six NHS HART (Hazardous Area Response Team) personnel assembled one of our largest three-piece mass decontamination shelters in under nine minutes without any prior training or guidance.
Do the Shelters Require Continuous Inflation?
No. Once inflated, the shelters maintain their structure without the need for continuous airflow. The welded inflatable air beams are designed to remain rigid and stable throughout deployment, reducing noise levels, power consumption, and complex operations. This makes our decontamination shelters ideal when deployed in the fieled, or isolated areas where power sources are limited.
How Many People Can Be Decontaminated at One Time?
Capacity depends on the shelter model and configuration.
Our inflatable decontamination systems are designed to safely accommodate multiple casualties and personnel wearing full PPE, including hazmat suits and respiratory equipment, while maintaining safe movement and operational workflow within the shelter.
