The Emergency Services Show 2025: Shaping the Next Generation of Decontamination Solutions

The Return of the Decontamination Village: The Mass Decontamination Shelter

We returned to the trade show scene at the Emergency Services Show 2025, held at the NEC in Birmingham. This marked the final showcase of our shelter this year, bringing together professionals from emergency services, first response, and public safety.

Across the two-day event, visitors and exhibitors experienced our live Decontamination Village—a fully immersive walk-through demonstrating the mass decontamination process, including the three-stage rinse–wash–rinse procedure for both ambulatory and non-ambulatory casualties.

At the centre was our Mass Casualty Decontamination Shelter, deployed at full scale to demonstrate rapid setup, practical functionality, and operational effectiveness. Made up of three interconnected units, the system replicated a real-world decontamination zone that you could step inside, look up close, and see every section of the shelter in detail.

Built to the Specification of First Responders and Emergency Teams

A key theme we noticed with our Mass Decontamination Shelter, as well as our other decon shelters on display at ESS 2025, including the Resilience and HART shelters, was the feedback from the people they were built for: first responders and emergency services. They were impressed by every detail, from the choice of materials and overall size to quality, setup, and breakdown speed— it was a great feeling to see that what we brought to the Emergency Services Show was exactly what they want and need in the field!

Walking Through the Shelters

Both visitors and fellow exhibitors were able to walk through the decon shelters and see them up close, experiencing every detail for themselves. Giving them the chance to compare the design, layout, and function with other shelters they have used in the field. Their feedback showed strong appreciation for the thought put into materials, size, quality, and the speed of setup and breakdown—all essential for effective decontamination operations.

Being able to see the shelters in real time, and test the flow highlighted the practical value of our designs and gave us valuable insight from the professionals who use this equipment every day. It was extremely rewarding to see that what we brought to the Emergency Services Show met the needs and expectations of those on the front line.

Step Inside: A Full-Scale Mass Decontamination Shelter Experience at the NEC

At the Emergency Services Show 2025, we gave visitors the chance to see and walk through our full-scale Mass Casualty Decontamination Shelter, designed for fast deployment, simple transport, and full compatibility with NHS protocols and emergency service procedures.

Each 5x3m shelter can be linked to create a 5x9m modular system, supporting decontamination for both ambulatory and up to 12 non-ambulatory casualties. Developed with HART teams, SORT units, and frontline responders in mind, the shelters are suitable for CBRN incidents, hazardous material exposure, and major incident deployments.

Visitors were able to experience the operator-to-casualty flow first-hand, moving from triage entry through to exit zones. Emergency service teams—including procurement staff, HART units, resilience planners, and operations leads, commenting on the speed of setup, practical layout, and attention to how the shelters worked. The experience was reinforced by a continuously running animated demonstration, showing the full decontamination process. This immersive experience proved especially valuable for first responders, HART teams, training officers, civil resilience planners, NHS units, and blue light operations leads.

The show highlighted the value of hands-on demonstrations for first responders and emergency service professionals, allowing them to plan, train, and see how the shelters work in real deployments. It was a collaborative experience, with these professionals sharing their insights and feedback based on previous use of similar equipment. This exchange of knowledge will help us further refine our shelters, addressing operational pain points and improving the productsmois for those who rely on them most.
