MarkusNet and Scramble-Net Servicing Requirements
Regular servicing of your MarkusNet or Markus Scramble-Net is essential to make sure the equipment performs safely and reliably during a real rescue. These nets are critical lifesaving tools, so keeping them in top condition protects both your crew and those you may need to recover from the water.
Service Intervals and Usage Checks
Every MarkusNet and Scramble-Net must be taken to a manufacturer-approved service station within five years from the date it was made, and then every five years after that. The equipment must also be inspected after any use in an actual rescue. If the net is used during training, it should be clearly marked as training equipment and packed by the vessel’s safety officer.
Each time the net is used, either in training or during a real MOB recovery, or when it is taken for inspection, the event must be recorded in the ship’s diary. Keeping accurate records ensures no service date is missed and helps maintain compliance and readiness on board.
What Happens During Inspection?
- We follow the LEI-330 instruction process to carry out a full inspection.
- The inspector completes the EYD-043 MS Inspection Report according to the official guide.
- Photos are taken of all critical parts: attachment line, container, lid handle, net laid out flat, and serial number tag.
- Any damaged parts are repaired before the unit is approved.
- We issue an EYD-042 Inspection and Repair Certificate, which must be kept in the ship’s Safety Portfolio.
- A new MS Service Label is applied to show the next inspection due date.
