Man Overboard MOB - Matesaver Pole
The MateSaver allows for not only the safe rescue of persons from the water, whether conscious or not, but also enables the rescuer to remain safely onboard the vessel even in the most arduous of conditions. It has been used in multiple live rescue situations throughout the world with a decreased risk to both the operative and the persons being rescued.
This design lends itself to single operative use, allowing one person to carry out the rescue 'on deck'. The MateSaver weighs only 6kg so it can be deployed rapidly and used with very little set-up requirement. In most cases, it is advised to deploy the MateSaver enroute to the casualty to decrease the time it takes to rescue the person.
Once a competent person is trained there is minimal ongoing input required in terms of maintenance and inspection. A video and instruction pamphlet are available as training aids but Naiad advises all customers that anyone using the MateSaver should watch the video and consider their company’s lifting policy.
Notable users include Associated British Ports (ABP), the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) in the UK as well as international port authorities.
