Military Man Overboard Equipment - MOB Cradle for Military Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) / Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) - SOLAS Approved MOB Cradle for Armed Forces

When deployed, the Jason's Cradle Military Fast Rescue Craft Kit forms a non-collapsible scoop, ensuring efficient retrieval of casualties. The casualty is guided into the unit and safely retrieved by rolling up and onto the craft in the medically preferred horizontal position. The kit's rigid construction and specialized design provide the operator with a 2 to 1 mechanical advantage during the lift, enhancing rescue operations. Navies currently utilising the Jason's Cradle Military Fast Rescue Craft Kit include Australia, Belgium, China, Ireland, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, United States of America, United Kingdom, Malaysia, and France.

What Does the Miltary FRC Kit Give Me?

The FRC kit consists of a Jason’s Cradle® with stowage bag and a fixing kit. Enabling the Cradle to be deployed on both the port, and starboard side as required. Fixing options available for RIBS (hypalon D-ring patches) or for hard hull (pad eyes.) FRC Kits are available in either: .53m / 530mm or .71m / 710mm width options.

How Does the Military FRC Kit Operate?

  • Deployment of the Cradle: When the need for rescue arises, the Jason's Cradle FRC Kit is deployed, forming a non-collapsible scoop. This configuration is essential for ensuring a stable and secure platform for rescue operations.
  • Scoop Configuration: The scoop design allows the casualty to be floated into the cradle with minimal effort. This feature is crucial, particularly in emergency situations where time is of the essence, enabling quick and efficient retrieval of the casualty from the water.
  • Coordinated Lift: Once the casualty is positioned within the cradle, a coordinated lift takes place. This lift ensures that the casualty is retrieved in a medically preferred horizontal position, minimising the risk of further injury during the rescue process.
  • Swift Lift Duration: Thanks to the 2 to 1 mechanical advantage provided by the Cradle's design, the lift duration is no longer than 5 seconds. This rapid lifting capability is critical for ensuring the prompt extraction of the casualty from the water, reducing exposure to potential hazards and improving overall rescue outcomes.
  • Casualty Positioning: Upon completion of the lift, the casualty is safely positioned face up on the sponson of the rescue craft. This positioning not only facilitates immediate medical attention if required but also ensures the casualty's comfort and safety during transit.
  • Versatile Utilisation: The Jason's Cradle FRC Kit is versatile and can be utilised for various purposes beyond casualty recovery, including body recovery, diver support, and providing a boarding ladder for accessing the rescue craft.

Key Features and Equipment Benefits:

  • SOLAS Approved MOB Equipment: The equipment is certified to meet the rigorous standards set by the International Maritime Organization's Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) convention, ensuring compliance with essential safety regulations for maritime operations.
  • Compliance with LSA Code, Regulation I/1.2: The equipment adheres to the Life-Saving Appliances (LSA) Code, Regulation I/1.2, guaranteeing its suitability and reliability in emergency situations as mandated by international maritime regulations.
  • Prevention of "Dry Drowning": By reducing the possibility of "dry drowning," also known as Circum Rescue Collapse, the equipment enhances the safety of both rescuers and casualties during recovery operations, mitigating the risks associated with post-rescue medical complications.
  • Recovery of Horizontal Casualties: The equipment is specifically designed to facilitate the efficient recovery of horizontal casualties from the water to survival craft, ensuring swift and effective rescue operations in various maritime emergency scenarios.
  • Dynamic Deployment: With the capability for dynamic deployment on both the port and starboard sides of the vessel, the equipment offers enhanced flexibility and adaptability in response to changing rescue conditions and operational requirements.
  • Non-Collapsible Scoop Formation: The cradle forms a non-collapsible scoop, providing a stable and secure platform for protecting the casualty during the retrieval process, thereby minimising the risk of further injury or harm.
  • Mechanical Advantage for Operators: The specialised design of the equipment incorporates a 2 to 1 mechanical advantage for operators during the lift, enabling them to exert less effort while achieving a more efficient and controlled extraction of casualties from the water.
