SOLAS Lifejackets

All SOLAS lifejackets supplied by I.C. Brindle & Co Ltd comply with the International Maritime Organisation’s SOLAS Convention and are manufactured in line with the International Life-Saving Appliance (LSA) Code, ensuring they meet internationally recognised performance and safety standards used across commercial shipping and offshore industries.

SOLAS lifejackets are designed for regulated marine environments where equipment must perform reliably in emergency situations, including Man Overboard (MOB) incidents. They provide automatic self-righting capability, high buoyancy performance in rough sea conditions, high-visibility materials for rapid detection, and essential safety fittings such as whistle and light. These features are specified to support compliance with marine survey, inspection, and insurance requirements across commercial and offshore vessel operations.

SOLAS-approved lifejackets are specifically intended for Man Overboard situations, where rapid flotation and correct body positioning are critical to survival. Their primary function is to keep the wearer afloat and positioned face-up to reduce drowning risk while supporting search and rescue recovery operations.

All SOLAS lifejackets meet strict international maritime regulations and are suitable for use across a wide range of vessel types, including commercial shipping, offshore energy, ferries, and workboats. They are routinely specified to meet flag state inspection requirements, marine surveyor compliance checks, and commercial insurance conditions.

In addition to supplying lifejackets, I.C. Brindle & Co Ltd provides professional lifejacket servicing* for applicable makes and models. Servicing includes inspection, testing, re-arming and repacking to help identify faults and maintain equipment in good working order. Regular servicing helps maintain lifejackets in good working order and operational readiness, in accordance with the manufacturer's servicing requirements and applicable marine safety guidance.

Where regulations require servicing by an MCA-approved service station, customers should use an appropriately authorised service station for the specific make and model.

*Important: I.C. Brindle is not an MCA-approved SOLAS lifejacket service station. Where applicable regulations require servicing to be carried out by an MCA-approved service station, owners and operators should ensure that their lifejackets are referred to an appropriately authorised service station for the specific make and model.
