Free-standing water barrier for flood control, available in various lengths and heights

ALTEAU FLOOD BARRIERS

Primarily designed for use by the Emergency Services, this is a free-standing water-barrier for flood control, creating water reservoirs, damming streams and containing chemical spills. Suitable for sustained use at major incidents. Easily stored, transported, deployed and recovered.

Flood Barrier Key Features & Equipment Benefits:

  • Each section is simply positioned and unrolled
  • Inflation is by the weight of the flood-water itself (which also provides additional stability)
  • Automatically deflates with the falling water, and can be simply hosed down for reuse or return to storage
  • Can be used on various surfaces, including gently undulating surfaces.
  • Available in various sizes, and as straights and 90 degree corners.
  • Multiple sections can be joined simply with the integral Velcro fasteners, to create lengths of several hundred metres or to provide an enclosed area.
  • Versatile: Can be used on grass, gravel, concrete, tarmac, paving etc, and the fabric can mould itself to most gently undulating surfaces.
  • Portable: A 10m length (0.7m height) weighs 85kg and can be transported in a small vehicle. A 5m length can be carried by hand. Supplied with a protective storage/carry bag. Up to 5 sections can be stored on a single standard pallet.
  • Easily Deployed: Can be simply unrolled in minutes. No attachments or on-site construction is needed for the majority of situations. The flood-water itself provides additional stability (and there is the option to attach heavy-duty pegs for further security if needed).
  • Self-Inflating: Inflated simply by the weight of the flood-water itself - no external power source or pre-inflation is required.
  • Extendable / Customisable: Multiple sections can be joined simply with the integral Velcro fasteners, to create lengths of several hundred metres or to provide an enclosed area (eg 4 corners and 6 x 10m sections will provide a 200m2 enclosure)
  • Reusable: Automatically deflates with the falling water, and can be simply hosed down and rolled up for reuse or return to storage.
Environmental Impact: No affect on the environment, and leaves no permanent damage to the site.

TECHNICAL DATA

Alteau Flood Barrier is designed for and used by rapid response emergency services. It is a portable, self-inflating, reusable water barrier which can be installed in minutes with one to two people and easily packed and reused for a different application after hosing down and rolling up.

The free-standing flood barrier rises automatically with the force of the water, rising to a height of 0.7metres. By using the Velcro fastening system sections can be joined, creating a flood defence barrier of several hundred metres.

Transport — With a weight of 85kg for a 10m section the portable barrier can be transported by small vehicles to the intended site, and the smaller 5m sections and corners being transferable by hand.

Environmental Impact — No environmental impact. The barrier does not pollute the site and when used to contain chemical or pollution spills it has obvious environmental qualities. Once used the barrier is totally removable and leaves no permanent damage to the deployment site.

Use — Alteau flood barrier is used for flood control, creating water reservoirs, damming streams and chemical spill containment.

Sizes — Available in 4M, 5m, 10m, 13M & 15M lengths and 0.35m, 0.5m, 0.7m & 1.0m heights to protect against water heights of a max of 0.7metres. Multiple sections can be quickly joined using the Velcro fastening system. The Flood Barrier can be joined to a corner section to provide a 90 degree turn, thus providing greater flexibility. Four corners and six 10m sections provide a 200sq.m area of protection.
